Diary

April 10–11, 2024

After several slow days (during which we made a number of important mechanical repairs) much has happened very quickly now. Our helicopter resupply of fuel and 400kg of food and spare parts joined us on the Pole in the evening. After more than a month of not seeing any humans but ourselves, it was almost euphoric (and strange) to interact. For their part the pilots were very respectful of what we’ve accomplished so far over difficult ice conditions- and respect from other polar-dwellers is hard won. After unloading we saw them on their way but then the really hard work began: distributing the fuel between vehicles, installing the parts received (in particular a new rear differential for the Yemelya with two trailers) and distributing the new food evenly to all members.
