Diary

April 24–25, 2024

They say that pressure makes diamonds. So think we must be pretty high in carats now. We worked all day to only make 13km toward Greenland, over massive old pack ice and several thin ice crossings where we broke through. The great news is the team is working together very well, using all the tools at our disposal: ice picks, bridging ladders, boats and winches and amphibious floating capability. We can get over pretty much anything. Now it’s just a race for time to get to Greenland before the glacier gets too slippery in the warmer weather. We’ve stopped for dinner now but probably not for the night; we had some whiteout weather in the late afternoon and now it’s clear, so we will press on for a while longer.
