In the days that followed, we encountered more technical issues. Part of the challenge of crossing the massive continent of Antarctica (about 50% larger than the USA) is you have to take everything in (and out) with you, including your fuel. We’re using the largest sled trailers we’ve ever tested, and it’s clear that we are pushing the limits of their design. As we continue our trek across this icy wilderness, we’ve already found ourselves making crucial repairs in the field, where temperatures hover around -31°C and we are nearly as far from help as one can get. But that’s the nature of expeditions: adaptability, quick thinking, and re-engineering on the go.
Amidst these challenges, we achieved a monumental milestone: the team successfully reached the geographical South Pole, marking a major achievement in our Antarctic stage.
Another significant milestone - one year ago to the Transglobal Car Expedition. On January 10, 2024, the team set out from New York on an ambitious circumnavigation of the globe. Over the past 365 days, we have traveled through North America, the Arctic, the North Pole, Europe, Africa, Antarctica, and now, the South Pole.
