Diary

October 22-24, 2024

We had a relatively short journey of 108 km. However, the day began with a morning safari, and we were thrilled to finally see a leopard in the wild. So elegant and beautiful.

The next day featured the longest drive of the African leg, covering nearly 700 km. Overnight, there was an intense thunderstorm. Just as we started our journey, we were blessed with the rains down in Africa — our first rain on the African stage. We were heading toward the city with the French name, Moremi.

Finally, we say goodbye to Botswana. It must be said that we encountered almost all the animals here, except for rhinoceroses. Due to the scarcity of rhinos in Botswana and the high value of their horns, they have been gathered in one national park and are under heavy protection.

This morning we even had the chance to meet a local reptile. A small python slithered onto the veranda where we were having breakfast. We had been told that snakes were still hibernating, but this one turned out to be curious. The encounter was mutually interesting and ended well for both sides.

Now we head to the final country of our African journey: South Africa. Our destination today is the town of Mopane.
