As planned, we weighed anchor at 8 a.m. and entered the port of Walvis Bay. The city is small, with a population of 75,000, but it is the most industrial city in Namibia. We quickly got ready, had breakfast, and said goodbye to the ship’s crew. We took our bags for Antarctica out of the cars to leave them on the Argus. In Cape Town, where we will arrive in 42 days, we will load our cars back onto it, and it will take them to South America, to Punta Arenas, where we will pick up our gear for Antarctica.
At 10 a.m., the unloading of the cars began. Unlike in Morocco, everything went quite smoothly here. By 1 p.m., we had left the port area. First, we decided to wash the cars to remove the ocean salt. Even though the cars were well covered with tarps, they were still covered in salt. We stopped at a local car wash and spent an hour and a half getting them cleaned up. After that, we refueled and had dinner. Our African journey starts tomorrow, so stay tuned!
