Diary

December 3-16, 2024

The days on the ship blend into one another, with constant daylight, and four meal times every 24 hours. The icebreaker progresses at a deliberate pace. To break the rhythm, we hosted a lecture with a presentation outlining the mission of Transglobal Car Expedition for interested passengers, and we had a very large turnout, especially amongst the scientific and expedition community on the ship.

Our journey has seen us navigating through a force six storm, dense fog, towering icebergs, and increasingly compact and frequent ice fields—clear signs of our approach to Antarctica. Along the way, we encountered some of the local wildlife, including penguins, whales, and seals.

We took the opportunity to explore the entire ship, familiarizing ourselves with its residents and unique spaces, such as cabins, the gym, the scientific laboratory, and other intriguing locations. On days 335-338, the unloading of goods at a stop previous to ours with a helicopter took place, which we got the chance to witness.
